Virginia Mary Waddell (nee Striegel) of Port Orange, FL, formerly of Lake Park, passed away January 22, 2019 at the age of 88. She was adored and loved by her late husband, Raymond C. Waddell, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage and rejoins in heaven.
Born September 16, 1930 in McKeesport, PA, she resided there until moving to North Palm Beach in 1960. She spent the majority of her life in a home she bought with Ray off Prosperity Farms Rd until moving to Port Orange in 2013.
She was an active member of St. Clare’s Parish as well as the Council of Catholic Women. She drove the school bus for Cardinal Newman HS for many years. She loved her family, orchids, and sewing as well as her longtime friends, including many she from her earlier life in McKeesport.
Along with Ray, a past Grand Knight, she attended many social events at the K of C #4999, where she loved to dance and socialize.
She is survived by her children, daughter Sherry Miller (Douglas), sons Mark (Linda) and Michael (Michelle), Grandsons Karl (Kristen), David (Rachel), Justin, Erik and Ryan; Her brother Thomas Striegel, (Joan), Sister Mary Ann Schwan (Paul), Sisters-in Law Rebecca Guenther (Ted) and RuthAnn Miller (Frank) and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed but knowing she is back with the love of her life, Ray makes it bearable.
Friends and family will gather from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, January 28, 2019 at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday, January 29 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Rd., NPB, FL. She will be laid to rest privately in the South Florida National Cemetery.
